2008 Class Schedule

Japanese Woodblock Printmaking Workshop (Moku Hanga)
Instructor: Mary Brodbeck

Participants in these courses will learn the traditional Japanese methods of color woodblock printmaking; the materials and techniques will be similar to the antique “Ukiyo-e” print process. Techniques specific to the Japanese process are: the “kento” registration system, the use of brushed-on water-base pigments, and using the handheld “baren” as burnisher. These methods are appreciated for their timeless, low tech and nontoxic simplicity.

Workshops are available in various locations and are two, three or five day sessions.
Guidelines for each workshop may vary. Please contact the host organization for registration, pricing and procedures specific to each workshop.
